Next Stop: Sustainability

Our Journey to Net Zero

From the very beginning we have been committed to becoming a fully sustainable, carbon-neutral Cyder House. Our commitment to organic farming practices is only the beginning of the long list of tools and ideas our team employs on a daily basis to ensure that dream becomes a reality. We are proud of the work we do to keep our land thriving and we don’t plan on stopping any time soon!

Reducing our carbon footprint

Sustainability on The Farm

From the very beginning we have been committed to becoming a fully sustainable, carbon-neutral Cyder House. Our commitment to organic farming practices is only the beginning of the long list of tools and ideas our team employs on a daily basis to ensure that dream becomes a reality. We are proud of the work we do to keep our land thriving and we don’t plan on stopping any time soon!

Aside from our pond and natural water program, we also participate in a variety of other sustainable activities.

One of these activities is Biodynamic Farming, which aims to create healthy soil using compost and crop and grazing rotations. Basically speaking, it means we have some ah-MOO-zing employees on the grounds.

Another sustainability practice we implemented recently is a full fleet of electric mowers, weeders and blowers that have replaced our need for gas-powered tools.

Finally, let’s finish of the conversation with a word on pomace. Pomace is the apple residue leftover after pressing. We pride ourselves on reducing waste wherever possible, therefore we ensure that every part of our apple goes to use. Whether a local farmer comes to pick it up for feed or we mix it with manure and spread it back on the land from which it came, pomace is another integral part of our sustainability journey.

Yesterday, today & tomorrow

Continuing the Journey

With the rapidly changing climate, we know it is up to us as land owners and sowers to give back to nature and ensure it remains healthy, beautiful and bountiful for generations to come. For that very reason we are constantly researching more ways to reduce our impact on the environment. Here are a couple of things we have planned for the future on The Farm:

-Bio-diesel Program

-Solar Panel Installation

-Energy Efficient Facilities
